Jimmy Fallon Tests Positive For COVID-19; Reese Witherspoon, Others Send Well Wishes
Jimmy Fallon has revealed that he was tested positive for COVID-19. The comedian shared on Instagram a photo of himself sitting in an isolated room Monday.
Fallon, who is popularly known for hosting the late-night talk show "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," wrote that he got tested positive on the first day of his holiday break.
The 47-year-old comedian further mentioned that he is fully vaccinated and that he is "lucky enough" to have only mild symptoms. "Thank you to the doctors and nurses who work so hard around the clock to get everyone vaxxed," he added.
Fallon also thanked NBC for taking the coronavirus testing protocols seriously.
"Thank you to NBC for taking the testing protocols so seriously and doing a great job – and also thanks for putting me in the 'What 'chu talkin' about Willis?' isolation room when they told me the news," he concluded.
Many celebrities send well wishes to Fallon. Actress Reese Witherspoon took to the comment section to wish the TV host a speedy recovery.
"Feel better soon Brotha Jimmy," musician Morris Day commented, while writer Jake Fogelnest wrote, "I still can't believe this is a real room, but I'm happy that it is?"
Singer Debbie Gibson commented, "Feel better soon ! We all love you I mean, like … EVERYBODY !!!"
Many fans also send their wishes to Fallon.
"Feel better soon, that's the best option," one fan wrote, while another person commented, "Feel better soon dear Jimmy!"
The incident also sparked a debate on how people are contracting the virus even after getting vaccinated.
A user noted that the vaccine can only help prevent the spread of the virus but it doesn't make the symptoms milder.
"Conversely I know several people who were unvaccinated and got Covid and had the sniffles for a few days," the user wrote. "Joe Biden, Fauci and others said the vaccine prevented you from catching and spreading Covid - not that your symptoms would be milder."
The celebrities who visited the show last week include Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper, Matthew McConaughey, Blake Shelton and John Legend.
Besides the late-night show, Fallon will feature in a musical comedy movie, "Marry Me," which is slated to release on Feb. 11. The movie also stars Maluma, Owen Wilson and Jennifer Lopez. It is helmed by Kat Coiro.
