Jinger Duggar Releases New Book Reflecting On Josh Duggar’s Past Child Molestation Scandal
“Counting On” star Jinger Duggar has released her new book, which sheds some light on her family’s ordeal during her brother Josh Duggar’s molestation scandal.
In the book, “The Hope We Hold: Finding Peace in the Promises of God,” which Jinger released with her husband Jeremy Vuolo, the TLC star opened up about how the 2015 child molestation allegations against Josh affected the family.
The eldest Duggar child was accused of molesting five underage girls, and his sisters, Jill Dillard, Jessa Seewald, later revealed they were two of his victims. However, the girls insisted they forgave their big brother and moved on from the incident.
Nonetheless, the scandal rocked the family and made Jinger feel as if she was “living in a nightmare.”
Jinger revealed she struggled with having her family’s personal details dissected in the press. “Intimate details about our lives were splashed across a magazine page and all over the Internet for anyone and everyone to read,” she wrote. “I felt shell-shocked as if a bomb had exploded.”
She also recalled how the family prepared the kids for the news being made public.
“Earlier that day, Dad had gathered my siblings and me to tell us that the worst trial in our family history, a trial we had long since dealt with and made our peace with, was now public knowledge,” Jinger wrote.
Despite the uproar the scandal caused, Jinger claimed the family leaned on one another and “sought the Lord” to get through the scrutiny. “One of my siblings had made some sinful choices, but it had all been years ago. It had been awful, but we had dealt with it as a family,” she explained.
The release of Jinger’s book comes amid Josh’s recent arrest in which he was accused of receiving and possessing child pornography. If convicted, Josh could face $250,000 fines on each count and up to 20 years in prison.
