The "Impractical Jokers" team is losing one of its four stars after nearly a decade on TruTV.
On Friday evening, Joe Gatto, 45, revealed in a lengthy post on Instagram that he is leaving the popular hidden camera television series "due to some issues in my personal life."
"Sorry in advance for the long and more-serious-than-usual note below, I just wanted to let you all know that I will no longer be involved with 'Impractical Jokers,'" he wrote. "Alongside my friends, I've devoted a decade of my life to building this franchise and couldn't be prouder of what has been accomplished. However, due to some issues in my personal life, I have to step away."
Gatto then announced that he and his wife Bessy Gatto "decided to amicably part ways" after eight years of marriage.
"So now I need to focus on being the best father and co-parent to our two incredible kids," added Gatto, who shares two children with his estranged wife, daughter Milana, 6, and son, Remo, 4.
Gatto, who starred in the series alongside James "Murr" Murray, Brian "Q" Quinn and Sal Vulcano since December 2011, went on to say that outside of his family, his relationships with the other members of his comedy group "have been the most important in my life."
Gatto said in the post that he is positive that the three "will continue to make the world laugh" even without him.
He also acknowledged the hard work of the "talented" crew members of the show and expressed his gratitude to them, before thanking the fans who supported the series over the years.
"They say that laughter is the best medicine, and I hope I’ve been able to provide some of that over the last decade. Seeing you laugh has been my own medicine, particularly in these weird and difficult times we find ourselves," he added. "As I work through the challenges I am facing, I hope to and am excited to create new ways to entertain you."
Gatto received supportive messages from pals and followers in the comments section.
"We are all with you," Danica McKeller wrote. "Sending you all the love," Carla Marie added.
"Absolute legend. Thanks for the entertainment," Joe La Puma commented.
A number of fans were saddened by his announcement and said they will miss Gatto on the show.
"Gonna miss you, Joe [crying emoji]. Best of luck in your future endeavors," one wrote.
"Apparently 2022 isn't going to be our year either," another added.
"Impractical Jokers" has aired nine seasons and multiple specials on TruTV after premiering on Dec. 15, 2011. The network already renewed the series for Season 10, TVLine reported.
Following Gatto's exit, Murray, Quinn and Vulcano promised to "get back to making a new chapter of 'Impractical Jokers' in January."
"After all these years together, we never imagined making 'Impractical Jokers' without Joe," the trio wrote in a statement shared on Quinn's Instagram page. "While we are saddened to see him go, we [can't wait] to keep making people laugh, keep our relationship with the Impractical Jokers fans going, and keep working with the members of our team that we consider family."
