President-elect Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, lauded the frontline workers "who risked their lives" during the pandemic and reassured the public once more that the COVID-19 vaccines are safe during their final interview of 2020.

The Bidens appeared on "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest," just minutes before the ball dropped on Times Square to welcome 2021. They answered various questions from host Ryan Seacrest, who previously told USA Today that the interview would allow the next POTUS to honor the country's healthcare and frontline workers.

"The people we are honoring tonight were summoned and they stepped up and they were brave. They have done so much. They risked their lives. We owe them," Biden was quoted by USA Today as saying. "They brought the country together. It’s a big deal."

Meanwhile, Jill discussed receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, encouraging the public to get their shots once they become available.

"You have to take it. And it doesn’t hurt. I promise," she said.

"She hates needles, so that’s saying something," Biden interrupted.

"It doesn’t hurt and I didn't have any after affects. Everybody has to take it, so that we all can be safe," Jill continued.

Biden, who will officially make his move to the White House after inauguration day in two weeks, also spoke about what he sees for the future of the country amid the crisis.

"I’m more optimistic about America’s chances than I’ve ever been. And I’ve been around this for a while," he said. "There’s never been a single thing that America has been unable able to overcome, no matter how drastic it’s been, when we have all worked together. And I'm absolutely positive we’re going to come back even stronger than we were before."

Biden's inauguration will take place on Jan. 20 on the west front of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. His term starts at noon on that day, and he is required to take the oath of office before assuming duties. After the swearing-in ceremony, he will deliver his inaugural address.

The exact air time has not been announced yet, but historically, it takes place around 11:30 EST/8:30 a.m. PT. The event is likely to be streamed by every major news station and shared on Facebook Live, Twitter and YouTube, CNet reported.
