John Cena quietly tied the knot with girlfriend Shay Shariatzadeh in a private wedding ceremony in Florida Monday, a report said.
Cena and Shariatzadeh filed for a marriage certificate early in October and wed on Oct. 12 in Tampa, TMZ reported.
Unlike his last relationship, the wrestling superstar opted to keep his romance with Shariatzadeh away from the spotlight, only fueling dating rumors last year when they were spotted holding hands, E! News reported.
Earlier this year, the couple at the premiere of fantasy film “Dolittle,” where they were spotted sharing a kiss. Cena also referred to Shariatzadeh as “family” in his red carpet interviews at the event, People reported.
The WWE superstar told Entertainment Tonight that he met the engineer while filming a movie.
“What's truly special about this one is that, no matter what projects I'm involved in in the future, this one will always have a special meaning because I got to film a special project and meet someone special,” Cena said.

Work
Unlike Cena’s ex, Nikki Bella, Iran-born Shariatzadeh, who is a Canadian citizen, is not from the wrestling world nor is she a public personality. She has worked as a product manager for Vancouver-based Motorola Solutions tech company Avigilon since 2015.
As a product manager, Cena’s wife develops partnerships with external third parties and leads product launches, among other tasks.
Family
Shariatzadeh is close to her family, particularly her mom. Cena’s wife described her mother as “the strongest and most hard working woman” she knows.
“The biggest lesson she taught me was to be independent and fight for the things I want in life. She is the reason I fight to be the best version of myself, to be kind and to never give up -- because, despite all the hardship, she always smiled. She is my hero,” Shariatzadeh said to Avigilon.
Previous Job
Before she landed a job at Avigilon, Shariatzadeh worked at retail shop Guess for two years. Cena’s wife used to be a sales associate whose role is to help customers shop with their outfits.
Education
Cena’s wife has a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering from the University of British Columbia. As to why she took up engineering, Shariatzadeh admitted that she loves math and physics.
“My brother studied engineering in school, and I remember one day he came home with a project and it was an autonomous car—and that was it! I decided to study engineering,” she said.
