John Corbett Reveals Secretly Marrying Longtime Girlfriend Bo Derek In 2020

John Corbett has revealed he and his longtime girlfriend Bo Derek secretly tied the knot in 2020 after being together for nearly two decades.

The actor made this revelation Tuesday as he spoke to host and friend Jerry O’Connell on CBS’ “The Talk.”

The “Sex and the City” alum said the wedding was a private ceremony and he and his wife have not spoken publicly about it until the interview.

"I talked to Jerry the other day for two hours...Jerry; I can't believe that I forgot to tell you that around Christmastime we got married. Bo and I got married!" Corbett said before he flashed his wedding ring for the camera.

O’Connell promptly congratulated his friend after the surprise revelation.

“Whoa! I noticed your ring and I was gonna say something but not on live television but wow! Congratulations! I knew your kids will make it,” he said.

Corbett replied, "We’re pretty private people, we didn’t make an announcement. All our friends and family knew."

As the world grappled with the effects of the pandemic, Corbett said he and Derek decided it was the best time to say “I do” so they could create a positive memory to the year 2020.

"We didn't want 2020 to be that thing that everybody looks back at and hated," Corbett said. "And we thought; let's get one nice thing out of it."

Corbett and Derek began their relationship in 2002, just a few years after the actress’ husband, John Derek, died in 1998 at age 71 due to congestive heart failure.

Derek told Entertainment Tonight in September 2020 that she doesn’t mind being asked when she and Corbett would tie the knot.

“I don’t mind being asked about marriage because we’re the abnormal people. It's not really a conscious decision not to, it's just at our age, we're not going to have children, we're not building a new family together, that this is important to a family tree. So for us, it would just be a piece of paper,” she said adding, there was no secret behind their decades-long romance.
