John Edwards to be indicted for using campaign funds to conceal affair
John Edwards, the former US vice-president nominee, is to be indicted by the Department of Justice for allegedly using campaign funds, more than $1 million in total, to conceal his affair with ex-campaign videographer Rielle Hunter.
The Guardian reported that the accusations resulted from a grand jury investigation where witnesses who were close to John Edwards such as his former staffer Andrew Young were interviewed.
So far, according to ABC the Justice department has been given the green light to charge and prosecute Edwards for the illegal use of the campaign money and now Edwards faces either trying to reach a plea deal or fighting the allegations in court.
