John Mayer To Release Four Songs Each Month From His Upcoming Album ‘The Search For Everything’
John Mayer is making music again.
The singer-songwriter announced the news via Facebook. Mayer said he made so many songs that it did not seem practical to release them all at once, so he is going to put out four each month.
The first wave of songs will be out on Jan. 20. They are titled “Love on the Weekend,” “Moving On and Getting Over,” “Changing” and “You’re Gonna Live Forever in Me.”
“Love on the Weekend” was first released in November 2016.
Mayer’s upcoming album comes three years after his latest record, “Paradise Valley.”
After a long hiatus, Mayer said he has come to terms with the fact that he is no longer considered an “it” artist. “I now say: ‘I’m not it, I just do it,’” Mayer said during an appearance on “Todd & Jayde In the Morning” on 95.5 PLJ (as quoted by Yahoo). “ There is a difference. People who are ‘it,’ ‘it’ will kill you. It will kill you if you consider yourself to be it. If you think you are the star, like all the way down to your core that you are just made of star parts, you will die.”
The singer continued: “What I realize now is I have a very cool job. I get passes that I get to wear around my neck that [allow me to] keep walking to the microphone -- and nobody tackles me. And then the show is over, and I go home.”
Mayer added: “There is humility in knowing that you’re not popular to the point where people are following you around anymore. They’re following new people around. They’re not following me around anymore. There’s humility in, ‘Yeah, don’t worry about it because you’re not going to be that hot [forever] anyway.’”
Mayer announced his upcoming album and tour in November 2016, according to Billboard.
