John McCain To Guest Star In Episode Of ‘Parks And Recreation’ Season 5
At the end of the fourth season of Parks and Recreation, the show revealed that its power couple, Ben Wyatt and Leslie Knope (played by Adam Scott and Amy Poehler, respectively) would be spending some time in Washington. According to the Washington Post, it looks like Leslie will be meeting some powerful figures in the coming season, most notably U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
A press release about a coming episode mentions that several political figures are set to make appearances on the show, including U.S. Sens. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, as well as former presidential candidate McCain.
The press release stated, Recently elected councilwoman Leslie Knope (series star and Emmy nominee Amy Poehler) ventures outside her hometown of Pawnee, Indiana, and travels to the nation's capital to visit Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott), who invites her to a cocktail party attended by several high-powered politicians -- including Senators Boxer, McCain and Snowe.
The release didn't say exactly how large the roles played by the senators will be in the episode, but if they're listed in the episode description, it's worth assuming that they will at least play a moderately large part in the episode, which is set to air Sept. 27.
Parks and Recreation has already started filming in DC, with scenes being shot in front of the White House on Thursday. The scenes reportedly included Andy Dwyer and April Ludgate (Chris Pratt and Aubrey Plaza, respectively) bantering in front of the iconic building.
The crew is also set to film scenes in front of the Old Executive Office Building. No word yet about whether the star of Leslie's No. 1 sexual fantasy, Joe Biden, will make an appearance.
