'John Wick 3': Keanu Reeves Wants John To 'Suffer,' Get Beaten Up
New “John Wick: Chapter 3” details and images have been revealed. The titular assassin played by Keanu Reeves will be “beat up” like never before, director Chad Stahelski confirmed in a comment that accompanied the new picture. The film is set to be another action-packed adventure that is sure to see more blood getting spilt.
Among the teasers released by USA Today recently is a new picture of “John Wick 3.” The picture shows John with scars on his face, talking to someone across the table. He is holding a cross in his hands.
Stahelski said in a statement that he is a big fan of Joseph Campbell’s mythologies, which focus on the pain that the hero endures. The director called this “The Die Hard Conundrum,” which appears to be a reference to the Bruce Willis movies that also focus on the hero enduring a lot of pain.
The “John Wick” movies have a similar theme. The seemingly invincible assassin that Reeves plays in these films is very human and continues to fight with sheer determination no matter how much he bleeds or hurts.
Stahelski pointed out that the heroes who live this kind of a lifestyle are going to get “beat up.” The director added that he and his team, including Reeves, would like to see John Wick suffer.
There will be a world of pain for John in the upcoming third instalment. The film will pick up right where the sequel left off, with the assassin being banished from the Continental Hotel grounds. He will get an hour’s head start before the bounty on his head comes into effect.
Reeves’ character will travel from New York City to Morocco in order to find help before returning. A previously released picture of the film posted on the official Facebook page of the franchise shows John Wick riding a horse through the traffic of New York city.
In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Stahelski teased that the death count in the third installment will be slightly more than the deaths in the sequel. The director joked about how unsure he was when they made the first film, and that scepticism persisted even after making this new movie.
What is different about “John Wick: Chapter 3” is that it has been described as a bit of an origin story. Some of the new characters being introduced have a past with Reeves’ character, and the film will explore these past connections and also show some of his backstory.
