Johnny Depp feared for his life when he was still with Amber Heard.
Depp and Heard separated in 2016 and their divorce was finalized in 2017. Their separation made headlines because the exes were embroiled in a legal battle with Heard accusing her ex-husband of being violent and abusive.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor vehemently denied Heard’s allegations. However, only very few believed in him. Depp lost a lot of projects and was condemned. However, a few weeks back, an audio of Heard admitting that she hit Depp leaked which changed the whole narrative of the exes’ story.
Depp has been claiming that he is the real victim. In the court papers, Depp shared his severed finger after Heard hit out. He also admitted that due to Heard’s violent nature, it came to a point when he feared for his life.
“While I was in Australia filming a movie approximately one month after I married Ms Heard, on a day where my then-lawyer tried to discuss with Ms Heard the need that she sign a post-nuptial agreement with me, she went berserk and began throwing bottles at me,” Depp said in the court document. “The first bottle sailed past my head and missed, but then she threw a large glass vodka bottle. The bottle struck the marble countertop where my hand was resting and exploded. The projectile’s impact shattered the bone in my finger and entirely severed the tip of my finger.”
Depp submitted a graphic photo of his finger to show the severity of the injury. He also underwent three surgeries to reconstruct his finger and contracted MRSA three times.
“I feared that I would lose my finger, my arm, and my life,” he added.
Depp also stated that between the two of them, it was Heard who had a history of domestic violence. The “Aquaman” star was arrested in 2009 after she assaulted her ex-girlfriend Tasya van Ree at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The Seattle-based prosecutor did not press charges against Heard because they were both residents of California.
Depp’s exes have also spoken about the matter. According to Winona Ryder, Vanessa Paradis and Lori Anne Allison, they never experience any abuse when they were with Depp unlike Heard’s claims.
