Johnny Depp Named 'America's Favorite Actor' Despite Vanessa Paradis Break-Up Rumors [PHOTOS]

A 2012 Harris Poll has named Johnny Depp as America's Favorite Actor. The 48-year-old actor won the distinction for the second time after previously holding the honor in 2011 as well.

Actors, Denzel Washington and Clint Eastwood, tied for second place.

The poll, which survey 2,237 adults online between Dec. 5 and 12, 2011, found curious divisions between gender, race and political affiliations. Men voted Clint Eastwood as their favorite, while women leaned towards Johnny Depp. Depp also scored high amongst those between 18 and 65 years old, but the people polled over 66 preferred George Clooney.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star won the hearts of the East, Midwest and West, while Clint Eastwood, unsurprisingly, scored higher in the South.

Depp and Denzel Washington became a new battleground for voters. Depp is a favorite of both Republicans and Independents, but Democrats preferred Denzel Washington. Liberals and conservatives agreed that Depp is their favorite actor, while Moderates voted for Washington.

The popular actor first rose to prominence in the 1980s television show, 21 Jump Street. He has starred in a long stream of films since then, including the popular Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Rango, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Alice in Wonderland, among others.

Depp has made headlines in the past few weeks following rumors of a break-up between him and long-term girlfriend, Vanessa Paradis. The pair has two children together, Lily-Rose Melody Depp, 12, and John Christopher Depp III, 9.

A source told RadarOnline.com that the couple's relationship is heading toward the end.

Johnny has started reaching out to lawyers, probably to quietly discuss how to get out of the relationship. They're not married but they've been together for years and have kids together so it isn't as easy as just breaking up, the source said.

Paradis is a French singer, model and actress. She became a worldwide success at age 14 with her hot single Joe le taxi. She and Depp met while he was filming The Ninth Gate.

The family spends their time in Meudon in the suburbs of Paris, Los Angeles, an island in The Bahamas and a villa in Le Plan-de-la-Tour, a small town in the south of France.
