Amber Heard will reportedly fly to London to testify against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, years after accusing the actor of domestic violence.
According to Daily Mail, the “Aquaman” star will take the stand at the High Court in what would be her first public showdown with Depp after the latter’s cryptic text messages were released.
Depp previously texted his friend, Paul Bettany, threatening statements directed at Heard. The actor claimed that he would burn and drown his ex-wife.
Earlier this month, leaked audiotapes revealed how Heard admitted to physically abusing Depp. She also taunted her ex-husband by saying that no one would believe that he’s a victim of abuse.
“She will be there, to tell the truth. It is her chance, her moment,” a source told the publication.
In the court documents that Heard filed to counter Depp’s 50 million defamation case against her, the actress claimed that the actor would oftentimes not remember being violent even when he’s already sober.
“About a year into our relationship, I began to witness Johnny abusing drugs and alcohol or would notice that he was drunk or high. He frequently went in and out of drug and alcohol dependency medical care, including 24-hour live-in medical aid for the last three years of our relationship … Whenever he was using, I was worried for both of us. He would become a totally different person, often delusional and violent. We called that version of Johnny, 'the Monster, ’” Heard claimed.
Heard went on to say that because Depp couldn’t remember his violent tendencies when he’s drunk or high, the actress decided to document the injuries and destruction by taking videos and photographs so that she could show her ex-husband what he would do when he’s not himself.
"Because I loved Johnny, I had believed his multiple promises that he could and would get better. I was wrong,” she said.
Heard’s lawyers also released a statement defending the actress and saying that it is the client’s desire to help other abuse victims that’s why she came forward.
