JoJo Siwa On Critics Who Question Her Judging Qualifications: 'You Just Sound Silly'
JoJo Siwa has a message for haters who pick on her without checking the facts.
"Listen, I'm the first one to hate on myself," the 19-year-old singer and dancer told ET in an exclusive interview. "Like, you cannot tell me anything that I haven't already told myself. However, when you are saying something about me that is blatantly not true, that drives me mad."
The "Nobody Can Change Me" singer was replying to a message from a critic who wanted her out of Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance." The person had earlier tweeted that he got excited thinking JoJo was removed from the dance competition show. However, it was Matthew Morrison who was ousted from the show for failing to follow the show’s rules.
In response, JoJo retweeted the post and unveiled a list of her accomplishments to prove she is fit to sit as a judge on the show. "18 Years of Dance Knowledge, 4 Major dance TV shows, I've hired over 1000 dancers, 16 Dance music videos," JoJo wrote.
Jojo, along with her mother, competed in "Dance Moms" when she was nine years old and finished fifth in the competition. She also appeared in season 13 of "Dancing With The Stars" and finished second with her partner, Jenna Johnson.
"I grew up in a dance studio. Literally from the time I was two I did my first solo, then I went to be on 'Dancing With the Stars.' Now, I'm a judge on 'So You Think You Can Dance.' I could tell you about every dance style," JoJo told the outlet. "Am I the smartest dancer in the world? By no means. Am I the most knowledgeable dancer in the world? By no means. But I am smart enough to be a judge on 'So You Think You Can Dance,' absolutely."
"And I don't like being that person that's like, 'I am good at this' but if I had to put a list of things I know the most about, dance would be number one on that list," she added. "So, when people are saying that I'm not knowledgeable enough to be a judge, I'm just like, 'Ya just don't know, ya just sound silly.'"
On the work front, JoJo is starring in a new series, "JoJo Goes," which will release Thursday on Facebook Watch. The series follows the singer and her close group of friends as they try out new things that are on JoJo's wish list, including working at the concession stands of Dodger Stadium in L.A.
