Josh Duhamel had medical emergencies hours before and hours after he wed his wife, Audra Mari, earlier this year.
During an appearance on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" Friday, the "Transformers" star, 49, revealed that he had to go to the emergency room for the second time after his wedding to the 28-year-old model due to a gruesome back injury.
"The next morning, after the wedding, [I] couldn't get out of bed again," he said on the show, adding that his wife nervously said, "'Oh my God. Everything is fine here. This is, like, the first day of my marriage, and I'm wheeling my husband around in a wheelchair.'"
Duhamel, who is 21 years older than his pageant queen wife, added, "I'm already way older than she is. It wasn't a great start, but I was like, 'Babe, for better or worse,'" according to Page Six.
Just hours before they tied the knot in September, the "Lost Husband" actor had to be taken to the hospital for the first time after he "couldn't get out of bed."
Mari talked about the incident in a previous interview with Vogue Australia, sharing that Duhamel threw his back out the night before their wedding while "pulling some wild dance moves" on the party bus.
"Cue the cortisone shot, and let's get married!" Mari said of how they dealt with it the morning of their wedding day.
Duhamel revealed to host Kelly Clarkson Friday what dance move led to the injury.
"They have those handles that you hold on in the party bus — I tried to do this thing like a gymnast, like, straighten myself out," he said while extending out a leg.
He continued, "So, I felt fine. I got through that night, and I wake up the next morning, two hours before the wedding, and I couldn't get out of bed. I literally couldn't stand up."
Duhamel was still able to get through the wedding ceremony because he took Toradol, an anti-inflammatory medication that reduces the hormones that cause pain in the body.
Despite the incident, their wedding day is still a fond memory for Mari. She told Vogue that they were introduced by a mutual friend who knew they were both from North Dakota.
"I guess the romantic in me always feels like we're just two small-town kids from North Dakota who found each other in Los Angeles. But we will always always be home, no matter where we are in the world," she said.
Duhamel was previously married to Fergie from 2017 to 2019. He and the singer share a 9-year-old son, Axl Jack.
