‘Jurassic Park’ Actor Jeff Goldblum Returns As Ian Malcolm To Franchise In ‘Jurassic World 2’
Good news “Jurassic World” fans: A familiar face will be seen in the movie’s sequel.
Jeff Goldblum, who played mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm in the first “Jurassic Park” movie that was released in 1993 and its 1997 sequel “The Lost World,” will return to the franchise in “Jurassic World 2,” according to Entertainment Weekly. Malcolm was one of the few people who survived on Isla Nublar after it was populated with cloned dinosaurs. The cocky character was also one of the few people to check out the original dinosaur attraction.
Goldblum’s Malcolm became the protagonist for “The Lost World.” He visited Isla Sorna, where all the dinosaurs are living in, in order to retire his girlfriend, Dr. Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore). She arrived in the island as a part of a team that was supposed to capture the dinosaurs and create another park in San Diego. Fortunately, Malcolm and his girlfriend escaped the island after things went horribly awry.

Now Goldblum is joining the fifth movie, “Jurassic World 2.” However, it is unclear how Malcolm will be tied to the film’s plot. What is known is that it is set to be darker and scarier than the first one. Moreover, the cast consists of Geraldine Chaplin, James Cromwell, Daniella Pineda, Ted Levine and Justice Smith. Of course, Chris Pratt reprises his main role as Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard returns as Claire Dearing.
A 9-year-old girl has joined the cast of the sequel. Mysteriously, very little is known about her character except that she is named Lucy.
J.A. Bayona will direct “Jurassic World 2.”
Although the plot hasn’t been confirmed yet, speculation suggests that the film will explore the concept of using dinosaurs as weapons. In the first movie, Dr. Wu (B.D. Wong) escapes the island with dinosaur embryos in a helicopter.
“Jurassic World 2” is currently in production. The film hits theatres on June 22, 2018.
