  • Justin Bieber spoke about BTS' accomplishments in a voiceover
  • The singer said the K-pop group has been making history and breaking records
  • BTS won all four awards they were nominated for at the 2020 MTV VMAs, including best pop and best choreography

Justin Bieber proved he's a huge BTS fan when he recently gushed over the K-pop group.

In a voiceover for E! News, the “Yummy” singer, who is the idol of BTS member Jungkook, talked about how big the K-pop group has become and what sets its recent hit single “Dynamite” apart from its previous releases.

“If anyone knows how to make history, it's BTS,” Bieber said. “The K-Pop group has been shattering records across the global music industry.”

Bieber detailed BTS’ achievements, including “ringing in the New Year in Times Square to 'Carpool Karaoke' with James Corden, they performed in Grand Central Station for 'The Tonight Show' and wowed at this year's virtual VMAs.”

The “Never Say Never” singer pointed out that BTS’ “Dynamite” music video broke the record for most views (101 million) in just a day of release and is the “most commented video” on YouTube.

The single, meanwhile, debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, which Bieber noted made BTS “the first all-South Korean group to top the chart.” He also emphasized how significant this achievement is.

“Unlike the group's Korean language songs like 'Boy With Luv' and 'On,' US radio stations are giving 'Dynamite' a lot of air time,” Bieber said. “Historically, non-English songs have had a hard time getting radio play and as a result, rarely do they see the top of the Billboard charts.”

Despite this feat, Bieber said that BTS' fan base, Army, should not expect their idols to produce English albums.

According to the pop star, BTS has “made it clear that the Korean language is a part of their art and identity,” adding that Jungkook, Jin, Jimin, V, RM, Suga and J-Hope are aware they don’t need to change to keep fans happy.

Meanwhile, BTS recently performed “Dynamite” on stage for the first time during the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 30.

During the virtual ceremony, BTS snatched the best pop award for “On,” besting Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, the Jonas Brothers, Halsey and Bieber himself. The group was also nominated for best group, best K-pop and best choreography for “On,” all of which they won.
