  • Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked to a move away from Juventus this summer
  • The Portuguese expresses his disdain over the transfer rumors
  • He has one year left on his contract with the Serie A powerhouse

Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo has been on the receiving end of transfer rumors linking him to a move back to Real Madrid, and he is not happy.

The summer transfer window across the football world is set to close on August 31st, and teams are making a scramble to get their rosters in order as most--if not all--have started their respective leagues’ seasons.

Early in the transfer window, there were many transfer rumors that floated around suggesting that he will be returning to the Bernabeu despite him having one more year left on his contract with the Serie A giants.

Other than Real Madrid, Ronaldo was also pegged to be on the radars of Manchester City and Manchester United this summer, but any concrete talks have been kept under wraps if there were even any in the first place.

Ronaldo hits back at the Real Madrid transfer rumors in a lengthy Instagram post, some of which can be read here:

"Anyone who knows me is aware of how focused I am on my work. Less talk and more action, this has been my guiding motto since the start of my career. However, in view of everything that’s been said and written recently, I have to set out my position,” he said.

"More than the disrespect for me as a man and as a player, the frivolous way that my future is covered in the media is disrespectful to all the clubs involved in these rumors, as well as to their players and staff. My story at Real Madrid has been written. It’s been recorded. In words and numbers, in trophies and titles, in records, and in headlines. It’s in the Museum at the Bernabeu Stadium and it’s also in the minds of every fan of the club.”

Ronaldo also mentioned his love for the club and its fans, but the rumors essentially forced his hand to make this statement as he “can’t allow people to keep playing around with [his] name”.

With Ronaldo himself directly shooting down any and all transfer rumors, Juventus fans can breathe a sigh of relief and have their focus completely on their Serie A opener against Udinese on August 23.
