Kacey Musgraves shared her reaction to the Grammys removing her new music album, "Star-Crossed" from the country music category.

The 33-year-old singer took to Twitter Wednesday and wrote, "You can take the girl out of the country (genre) but you can’t take the country out of the girl."

She also shared a throwback photo of herself wearing a red cowboy hat and white dress.

According to multiple reports, the singer's newly dropped album will be added to the pop category instead of the country category during the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, which is slated for Jan. 31, 2022.

Musgraves' fans quickly took to the comments section to show support for the singer.

A user wrote, "They are scared of you. You are the future of the genre and the old guard refuses the change. Keep doing you."

One of the fans commented, "This is absolutely ridiculous what the grammy did to you that's not fair" while another fan commented, "Chin up, Kacey here switching up genres and doing things the music industry can’t even categorize. We’re still dancing though."

However, some people agreed with the Grammys and said that the latest album doesn't belong to the country genre. One user noted that there was nothing wrong with the decision. "It’s not a country album. Not in the least," the comment read.

Musgraves' exclusion from the country music category comes as a surprise. The singer has previously won the Country Music Association Award seven times and the Academy of Country Music Award three times. She also earned six Grammy Awards, five of which were in the country music category.

Grammys nominations for the next year will be announced on Nov. 23.

Earlier this year, The Weeknd told The New York Times that he is boycotting the Grammys "because of the secret committees." The singer told the outlet, "I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys."

On the work front, Musgraves dropped her music album, "Star-Crossed" on Sept. 10.
