Kaley Cuoco recently expressed her gratitude to those who fought for the country – including canines.

The self-confessed dog lover shared a photo of an adorable German Shepherd who lost one of his legs during a mission. The dog’s other leg is still in crutches. But even though the dog has been severely injured, it still appeared to have a smile on its face. The dog also has a medal wrapped around its neck to acknowledge the work it’s done.

Cuoco called the men, women and canines who fought for the country “the true heroes” in her caption.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Cuoco made headlines for using photos of dogs. In recent weeks, she also shared snaps of her three adopted dogs wearing their Halloween costumes. The “Big Bang Theory” actress also regularly shares photos of dogs that are ready for adoption under the non-profit organization, Paw Works.

But Cuoco’s dog-related posts do not always warrant positive reaction from her followers on social media. Last year, she shared a picture her pit bulls Norman and Ruby sitting on the country’s flag. They, together with Ruby, also had a flag bandana wrapped around their necks. The snap has since been deleted, according to the New York Daily News.

Critics slammed Cuoco for disrespecting the flag, but the actress quickly clarified that it wasn’t her intention to do so. In fact, she said that she has utmost respect for her country. She also apologized for the “insensitive” move and said that she will be more careful next time.

Following the incident, Cuoco has become more particular with what she posts on Instagram. Other than her dogs, she also regularly shares photos and videos of herself while participating in equestrian competitions. She also uploads photos of her horses, travels and her boyfriend, Karl Cook.

Cook, who is also a professional equestrian and a fellow dog lover, has also been sharing photos and videos of his dog, horses and girlfriend on his social media account.
