Australian police were searching for three men who filmed themselves brutally torturing and killing two kangaroos, senior officials said Wednesday, describing it as the worst act of animal cruelty.

The shocking videos were found on the phone of a man who was arrested over a different matter. The videos showed the men torturing the kangaroos in two separate incidents which the police believe took place May 19 and June 16, 2018. Authorities believe the incidents occurred in Western Australia; however, the exact location of the attack was still unclear.

While the first two videos showed them bashing the kangaroos with knuckle-dusters, in the third video, the men could be seen stabbing the animals repeatedly in the head and neck. One of kangaroos seemed to be burned in the video.

"I've seen the videos and honestly, in my 17 years of policing, it's one of the most disturbing things I have seen, hands down. It's graphic, it's disturbing, it's cowardly,” Joondalup Police Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Giuffre said, ABC reported.

Officials released images of the men as they believe it can help with the investigation, and are of the hope the public will help the authorities nab the perpetrators.

According to reports, police has already identified one man and his face was pixelated in the images. They were trying to identify the other two men, one of whom was seen wearing knuckle-dusters on his hand.

The police described the first man as belonging to the age group of 20 to 30, fair skinned, medium build with dark facial hair, wearing a black beanie with a white emblem on the front and a black hooded top. The second man was described as 25-30 years of age, fair skinned, solid build with short brown hair and clean shaven, wearing a black hooded top.

Officials have requested people with any information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au. Officials have also offered rewards to people who aide in the identification of the men.

The case comes to light a few days after the 20-year-old man was arrested following the spread of a video in which he was seen deliberately mowing down emus in a four wheeled vehicle. Jacob MacDonald deleted his social media accounts after the video started going viral.

In the video, MacDonald was seen laughing while running over a helpless group of emus.

His girlfriend said MacDonald was a keen hunter who was employed on a friend's farm to do tractor and welding work. He reportedly went “off the rails” after his latest relationship breakdown.

“He's the type to go hunting, he grew up that way but this is just atrocious. I was shocked and speechless... angry mostly,” she told Daily Mail.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) spokesperson condemned the incident saying, “The RSPCA unequivocally condemns this type of violence, as it clearly shows a disregard for the lives of these vulnerable native animals, and raises grave concerns over this individual's capacity for such behavior.”
