  • Kanye West claimed that the label Universal blocked him from releasing "Jail Pt. 2" on "Donda"
  • Universal sources reportedly called West's allegations "preposterous"
  • "Jail Pt. 2" wasn't available on streaming services until several hours after the other songs on the album went live

Kanye West's highly anticipated album "Donda" is out — apparently before the rapper was ready to release it.

Hours after West's 10th album went live on streaming services, he took to Instagram Sunday with a post claiming that Universal Music Group, parent company to the label Def Jam, didn't have his permission to release it.

"Universal put my album out without my approval and they blocked 'Jail 2' from being on the album," West wrote on Instagram.

Variety said representatives for Universal had no comment when asked about West's accusation. However, unnamed label sources told the outlet that the allegation was "preposterous."

West's post received mixed responses from netizens.

"Too late Kanye, it's my fourth time listening to it," one fan commented, while another claimed they had already played the album 15 times.

"Universal really dropped it for us," another wrote with crying emoji. "The album is fire though," wrote another fan.

"Jail Pt. 2," the 24th track on "Donda," didn't become available on streaming services until several hours after the other tracks on the 27-song album went live. It features DaBaby, who made headlines earlier in the month with his homophobic comments, Entertainment Weekly noted.

The album's second track, "Jail," features Jay-Z and credits Marilyn Manson as a co-writer under his real name Brian Warner. He has been accused of sexual assault by several women, though he has denied all allegations.

EW noted that on Amazon Music, both Warner and Shawn Carter, a.k.a. Jay-Z, are listed as songwriters on "Jail," while Warner and Jonathan Kirk, DaBaby's given name, are credited for"Jail 2."

Both Manson and DaBaby made appearances at West's "Donda" listening event in Chicago Thursday, sparking backlash among fans online.

On Saturday, West shared a since-deleted post on Instagram that included screenshots of what appeared to be a text message chain between him and his manager, Bu Thiam.

In the purported exchange, West was informed that he didn't have clearance for DaBaby's performance on "Jail Pt. 2" and that they couldn't drop the album unless the rapper was taken off the track, to which the Yeezy founder strongly disagreed.

"I'm not taking my brother off," West replied, as quoted by EW. "He was the only person who said he would vote for me in public."
