KEY POINTS

  • Kanye West has responded to ex Kim Kardashian’s divorce filing
  • The rapper is seeking joint legal and physical custody of his children
  • Both Kardashian and West do not want spousal support from each other

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are seemingly on the same page when it comes to what they want for their children amid their divorce.

The “Fade” hitmaker, 43, just filed his response to the petition his reality star ex, 40, made back in February, and West has made it clear that he is seeking joint legal and physical custody of his four kids with Kardashian — 7-year-old North, 5-year-old Saint, 3-year-old Chicago and 1-year-old Psalm.

In the court documents obtained by TMZ Monday, the rapper indicated that he wants to be there for his children by having shared custody. However, the news outlet said that having joint custody does not really mean a 50/50 split for both parents as the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star is likely to have the upper hand in their arrangement. Nevertheless, both are committed to co-parenting their kids.

West’s petition mirrors what his ex asked for in her own filing. Aside from wanting joint custody, the two stars also do not want spousal support from each other — an interesting move considering West’s luxurious lifestyle and Kardashian recently being recognized as a billionaire, as per Page Six.

The Grammy-winning recording artist also indicated in his filing that he wants each of them to be responsible for their own legal fees amid the divorce proceedings.

It is worth noting that the exes have a prenup so it should be easy for them to divide assets amid their divorce. They signed the agreement in March 2014, two months prior their wedding in Florence, Italy, in May of that year, according to StyleCaster.

The rapper’s filing comes a week after Kardashian subtly promoted his Yeezy line on social media. Early this month, Kris Jenner’s daughter shared a snap of herself in a sporty attire and a yet-to-be-released pair of Yeezy slides, which quickly caught the attention of many fans on social media.

Kardashian and West shocked fans when they officially called it quits earlier this year. The KKW mogul filed for divorce on Feb. 19 after almost seven years of being married to each other. Despite the split, they have decided to remain amicable for their kids.
