Kanye West, Kim Kardashian And Their Two Children Visit Donda West’s Grave More Than 9 Years After Her Death
Kanye West continues to focus on family following his November 2016 hospitalization. The singer was recently spotted traveling to Oklahoma City, with wife Kim Kardashian and their two children in tow.
The duo and their tiny tots were said to be in town to visit the burial site of the “Real Friends” singer’s mother, Donda West. Photographers were able to snag photos of the family of four exiting a private plane on Monday. TMZ reported that Kanye, Kim and the kids met up with other unnamed members of the West family during their stay. Sources told the publication that the 21-time Grammy award winner has been spending more time with his family following his alleged breakdown, adding that this trip with them was particularly important to him.
Kanye’s mom died in 2007. The exact cause of her death remains unclear, according to Mic, though it’s thought to have been related to factors caused by cosmetic procedures she underwent. Kanye, 39, was close to his mother — so close, in fact, that some worried his recent forced stay at UCLA Medical Center may have been linked to the anniversary of her passing.
Prior to his visit to Oklahoma City, Kanye had been celebrating the holidays with his immediate and extended family. In one of few appearances on Twitter following his hospital stay, West shared a photo of himself with his wife and children that appears to have been taken on Christmas. In addition to sharing the photo, he wished his fans “Happy Holidays.”
Kanye has received an outpouring of support from both his peers in Hollywood and fans around the world in recent weeks. The rapper briefly came under fire for meeting with President-elect Donald J. Trump, but was defended by Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA. While many celebrities expressed disappointment in Kanye for giving Trump the time of day, following reports the rapper claimed he would have voted for him had he bothered to hit the polls on Election Day, RZA suggested that it wasn’t a bad move at all.
“I haven’t talked to him in a long time so I can’t really speak on where his head is at. I really don’t even comment on that one,” he said (via TMZ). “Trump is the president and we’re gonna have to talk with him, deal with him, build with him, and make sure that some of the things he’s dealing with are reflected in our community.”
While Kanye has returned to social media several times since his release from the hospital, he has yet to address the reason for his admittance.
