Kanye West is reportedly "struggling" with his bipolar disorder once again, a report said, amid the frenzy over the rapper's presidential run announcement.
A source told People that West previously suffered "both manic and depressive episodes related to his bipolar disorder," but he had apparently been doing well for "a long time." Now, however, the insider shared that the rapper is once again having a hard time due to his disorder.
"Right now, he is struggling again," the source told the magazine.
West's wife, Kim Kardashian, along with the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, is reportedly "worried" about the Yeezy founder's behavior. The insider further claimed that the KKW Beauty mogul has been stressed about it and is hoping the episodes would stop soon.
"It’s super stressful for Kim, because Kanye's behavior is very unpredictable. She is worried. The episodes usually last for a few weeks and then things go back to normal. Kim hopes it will be the same this time," the source shared.
West announced his presidential bid on July 4. And in a recent controversial interview with Forbes, the rapper-designer outlined a preliminary campaign platform and shared some eyebrow-raising statements regarding some current issues.
One of his revelations was that he was running under a new party called Birthday Party because he believes that "when [they] win, it's everybody's birthday."
He also divulged that he contracted the coronavirus in February. When asked about getting vaccinated, he said that it is the "mark of the beast," citing debunked anti-vaccine conspiracy theories such as Bill Gates wanting to implant microchips in people via vaccinations.
"It's so many of our children that are being vaccinated and paralyzed. . . . So when they say the way we’re going to fix Covid is with a vaccine, I'm extremely cautious," he told Forbes. "That's the mark of the beast. They want to put chips inside of us, they want to do all kinds of things, to make it where we can't cross the gates of heaven."
West also touched on the topic of mental health during his interview, which the financial magazine said spanned "four rambling hours."
"You know I was out there, ended up in the hospital, people were calling me crazy. I'm not crazy," the "Gold Digger" hitmaker said.
In November 2016, news broke out that he had a "psychiatric emergency" that got him hospitalized after he canceled his "Saint Pablo" tour. Two years later, West released his "Ye" album with the cover emblazoned with the phrase, "I Hate Being Bipolar. It’s Awesome."
In another interview, he revealed that he was only diagnosed at 39 and described his mental health condition as a "superpower." West later said he was only suffering from sleep deprivation and claimed that he was misdiagnosed.
However, in other interviews, West and Kardashian admitted that the rapper indeed has bipolar disorder. The social media superstar said that her husband didn't want to treat his mental health problem with medication.
"It is an emotional process, for sure. Right now everything is really calm. But we can definitely feel episodes coming, and we know how to handle them," the reality star previously said.
