Kanye West’s Diva-Like Demands Include Asking BBC Staff To Iron His Dressing Room Carpet
Kanye West, who appeared on "Later with Jools Holland" show on BBC on Tuesday, reportedly made a number of diva-like demands before he took to the stage to perform, and according to reports, the rapper wanted the carpets in his dressing room ironed out as it was too bumpy for his liking.
Besides West, Sting and Kings Of Leon were also featured on the show, which presents acts from musicians around the world. But, the 36-year-old rapper insisted that his entourage be given the majority of the 15 dressing rooms set aside for performers, multiple reports said.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Everybody knew Kanye's reputation for being a handful, but nobody had heard of a request for a carpet to be ironed before. His entourage took over the studio, even though plenty of other stars were present.”
West, who welcomed his first child, North West, with girlfriend Kim Kardashian in June, also wanted the decor of his dressing room to be completely in white -- “white flowers, white curtains, white everything,” Heatworld.com reported.
The "Yeezus" singer was also unhappy with the studio, and demanded that it be re-built according to his requirements. And, once his demands were met, West became an agreeable person to work with.
“Luckily once he got to the performance he was very quiet and unassuming,” the source told The Sun.
According to a Mirror report, West’s demands have put him on top of a list of celebrities with bizarre requests.
For instance, Mariah Carey once reportedly wanted a basket of puppies in her dressing room; Jennifer Lopez insists on her dressing room decor to be white and wants her coffee to be stirred anti-clockwise; Madonna wants a brand new toilet seat at every show; and Barbra Streisand wants rose petals in the toilet.
