Kari Lake Sues To Overturn Arizona Election Defeat
Kari Lake filed a lawsuit Friday contesting the results of the Arizona governor election, which she lost to Democratic Katie Hobbs by 17,000 votes.
Lake's lawsuit comes after weeks of conspiratorial public statements and social media posts claiming the midterm election's outcome was illegitimate.
"If the process was illegitimate, then so are the results," Lake said on Twitter on Friday after announcing the lawsuit. "Stay tuned, folks."

Hobbs called Lake's lawsuit "baseless" in a post on Twitter, saying it was the "latest desperate attempt to undermine our democracy and throw out the will of the voters."

According to the New York Times, Lake's lawsuit claims the election was corrupt in Maricopa County. The 70-page filing contains allegations from voter and poll worker statements that Maricopa County officials mishandled the election.

Maricopa County spokesperson Fields Moseley said the court system was the proper place for campaigns to make their case to challenge results.
"Maricopa County respects the election contest process and looks forward to sharing facts about the administration of the 2022 general election and our work to ensure every legal voter had an opportunity to cast their ballot," Mr. Moseley said.
