Kate Beckinsale's Ex-Boyfriend Gives Advice To SNL Actor Pete Davidson: 'Run'
Actor Kate Beckinsale has received plenty of attention in recent weeks about her latest relationship.
Beckinsale was spotted Sunday at a New York Rangers game at Madison Square Garden with "Saturday Night Live" actor Pete Davidson. The two had been rumored to be dating in January after reports of them being seen together after the Golden Globes award show.
Beckinsale's ex-boyfriend seemed to offer a cynical view of the relationship when interviewed Sunday in Los Angeles.
Hollywood gossip website TMZ talked to Beckinsale's ex-boyfriend Matt Rife outside the Laugh Factory, where Rife said he began dating Beckinsale in March 2017, when he was 21 years old and she was 43 years old. In the interview, he complimented the London-born actor for looking good for her age.
"We dated for a year and it was complicated, for sure — a lot of ups and downs. But she’s moved on and I'm happy," Rife said of his relationship with Beckinsale.
Rife, a stand-up comedian from Ohio, said he had not spoken to Davidson in at least a year. When asked what advice he would give Davidson, Rife was candid.
"Advice for Pete — man to man? Run," Rife said.
He added that Davidson should enjoy the relationship with Beckinsale while he can.
"I hope they’re both happy," Rife said. "I hope that it can build to where it’s an established, good relationship.
"I wish them both the best. I hope they’re happy. I don’t really have any solid advice: just be careful."
Rife firmly said "no" when asked if he would ever get back together with Beckinsale.
Davidson, 25, drew attention in December when he posted an ominous Instagram message, which read: "I really don't want to be on this earth anymore." The post prompted a wellness check from New York police.
Davidson has spoken publicly about being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.
Before the wellness check, Davidson had been in a five-month relationship with pop singer Ariana Grande. The couple broke up in October.
