Kurt Russell was moved to tears by his stepdaughter Kate Hudson's Father's Day tribute.

On Sunday, the "Almost Famous" star, 43, took to Instagram to share a throwback photo showing her as a child, cuddling up to Russell, her mom Goldie Hawn's partner of almost 40 years.

Hudson accompanied it with a short but moving caption praising the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" actor for being a great dad.

"Fun, adventurous, passionate, determined, honest, devoted, amazing father and the best head of hair in Los Angeles! Lucky us! Love you, Pa! Happy Father's Day," she wrote.

Russell has no social media account, but Hawn responded to her daughter's post on his behalf.

"Honey, I showed this to daddy. Here's his message," Hawn commented on Hudson's post.

The actor's comment was: "Birdie, mommy just showed me this picture, this perfect Father's Day present. I've never seen it before. Wow…it's a killer. Lotta water under the bridge…it's kinda hard to see it though 'cause all that water seems to somehow have found its way into my eyes…thanks for making me the luckiest father in the world sweetheart. I love you, Pa."

Hudson and her brother Oliver have been estranged from their biological father, actor and musician Bill Hudson, for much of their lives and were raised by their mother and her partner Russell.

Fans gushed over the father-daughter duo and praised Russell for stepping up as a dad to Hudson.

"The 'step up' dads are the best," one Instagram user commented.

"Your father is a hero in every way," another added.

"Happy Father's Day, Kurt Russell, and may God bless you on this glorious day today filled with the love of all fathers!!" a third user wrote.

Hudson also paid sweet tribute to her fiancé Danny Fujikawa Sunday. The couple welcomed their daughter Rani in 2018. The "Fool's Gold" actress shared an adorable video of the father and daughter on Instagram.

"Happy Father's Day to one amazing daddy. We love you so much!" she wrote in the caption.

Hudson is also mom to Ryder Robinson, 18, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Robinson, and Bingham Hawn Bellamy, 10, with ex Matt Bellamy.
