Kate Middleton Became Furious At Prince William’s Ex For This Reason
Their marriage has seemed like a fairytale for years, but prior to their 2011 nuptials, it seems that Kate Middleton and Prince William’s love story was more turbulent than previously revealed.
While it is common knowledge that Prince William and Kate Middleton did briefly break-up and end their romance in 2007, before re-kindling things and eventually going on to marry, it appears they had some rough patches during their earliest days in college as well. According to a new report from Express UK, back in 2002, a party the couple attended while students at St. Andrew’s University turned sour when William’s ex, Carly Massy-Birch, also showed up.
An excerpt from the 2011 book “The Making of a Royal Romance,” by royal expert Katie Nicholl, claims that during a dinner party the future Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended, they became involved in a game of “never have I ever,” which also included Massy-Birch. During her turn, the Prince’s ex reportedly called him out on his romance with Middleton, which wasn’t necessarily public knowledge at the time, which made both of them angry.
“When it was Carly’s turn to play she announced, ‘I’ve never dated two people in this room,’ knowing full well that William was the only one who had because Kate was sitting next to him,” an alleged party attendee said.
William was reportedly furious and shot his ex a nasty look before also allegedly whispering under his breath, “I can’t believe you just said that.” The comment also reportedly angered Middleton, because the two were not really public with their relationship yet.
“We knew they were together but it was the first time William confirmed his and Kate’s relationship in public,” the source added.
They also revealed that Massey-Birch further grated at Middleton’s nerves by taking advantage of the fact that she lived close to Prince William, and often sat and knitted by the window of her sitting room, where he could see her at any time.
However, though the pair did eventually call off their romance a few years later, they wound up having the last laugh, as they have now been happily married for seven years and welcomed three children together—Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 3, and Prince Louis, 7 months.
