Kate Middleton Dresses Like Princess Diana For This Touching Reason, Source Says

Kate Middleton reportedly dresses like her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, for a reason.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been photographed over the years wearing outfits reminiscent of that of the late Princess of Wales. For instance, Middleton was spotted wearing a lovely pale blue dress with a matching headscarf in Kuala Lumpur which is similar to Princess Diana's outfit in Pakistan in 1996.

In addition, during Prince George's and Prince Louis' public debuts, she donned something similar to what Princess Diana wore when the latter presented Prince William and Prince Harry to the world.

According to Susan Kelley of What Kate Wore, Middleton is doing this to pay her respect to the People's Princess. This has also something to do with Middleton's degree.

"The duchess has a degree in art history," Kelley said (via Express). "She pays attention to details and design."

"Using that background and looking to Diana for fashion inspiration makes perfect sense," she added. "For me, the linkage is that of an homage, a sign of respect or acknowledgment."

Eleri Lynn, curator of 2017 exhibition at Kensington Palace called "Diana: Her Fashion Story," said that Princess Diana was stepping into that same sort of space as Audrey Hepburn or Jackie Kennedy's. She added that Prince William and Prince Harry's mother wore outfits that mirrored her personality.

"Cheerful, colourful clothes because she wanted to convey approachability and warmth," Lynn explained. "She didn't wear gloves because she liked to hold people’s hands. She would sometimes wear chunky jewellery so that children could play with it, and she never wore hats to children’s hospitals after a while, because she said you couldn’t cuddle a child in a hat."

Middleton channeled Princess Diana on Prince Charles' official photos for his 70th birthday. In the snap, the Duchess of Cambridge can be seen wearing a polka-dot dress which is similar to Princess Diana's outfit in 1985.

Aside from dressing like Princess Diana, Middleton also wear pearl earrings on Remembrance Day as a tribute to Princess Diana. Prince William's wife has been doing this over the years. Princess Diana wore the same accessory for the same event when she was still alive.
