Kate Middleton's fashion changed after King Charles promoted her as the new Princess of Wales, a report has claimed.
His Majesty promoted Prince William and Middleton as the new Prince and Princess of Wales after he ascended the throne. Following the promotion, the Duchess of Cambridge's fashion has noticeably changed.
"I think this is her power moment — she's easing into the Princess of Wales role and that promotion that she's had in such a beautiful way," Bethan Holt, the fashion director at the Daily Telegraph, told People. "She's got this big new title, and she's dressing for that job."
This year, Middleton, 41, did not only move up the family hierarchy, but she also launched a new project, Shaping Us, an initiative to raise awareness of the importance of early childhood. The future queen consort has made several appearances for the campaign showing off her fashion-forward outfits.
One of her most glamorous outfits was the scarlet red Alexander McQueen pantsuit which she wore to a pre-campaign launch event at BAFTA headquarters in London on Jan. 30.
"We've seen her do tailoring before, but what I really loved about the red suit was that she was wearing it to an evening event," Holt added. "I loved seeing that kind of spicy experimentation, it almost had a slight Studio 54 vibe to it."
The author of "The Duchess of Cambridge, A Decade of Modern Royal Style" continued, "She was wearing that suit for the launch of an initiative that is her passion project — red is the color of passion, it was a big moment on her CV."
She added that Middleton's fashion took a "quite serious slant." She has been rocking very polished tailored pants giving her a very sleek silhouette
"I really think it marks a new era in her royal life," Holt added.
Emily Foskett, the founder and creative director of Emily Mortimer jewelry, also noticed changes in Middleton's accessories.
"She has maintained that classic look, but I think she is definitely more daring with her love of hoops and larger earrings," Mortimer told People. "She looks powerful and strong, and she knows what suits her."
The royal mom of three has been traveling around the United Kingdom to speak with students and experts. She also launched a new Instagram account for the project.
