Markle has faced a lot of criticisms from the time she dated Prince Harry and even after they got married. Many felt that the Duchess of Sussex was criticized due to her race. According to Gwendolyn Hendrix McGregor, a former professor, the Duchess of Cambridge experienced a “horrific treatment” from many Britons. When she started dating Prince William, Middleton was accused and ridiculed for stalking and chasing the future king. There were claims that Carole Middleton trained her daughter to ensnare Prince William.

Many said that Middleton was set to go to another school but changed university when she learned that Prince William was attending University of St. Andrews. Some also called the duchess “no self-respecting girl” for living with Prince William, and others said that she deliberately chose to wear the see through-dress and walked in a way to entice the royal.

“Kate, as any young woman would, tried to dress like royals for approval, except it came off as tweedy and dowdy and she was ridiculed. The royal follower added how the press lambasted Middleton when she and Prince William got back together after their split. There were claims that she embarrassed the Queen, was disliked by the royal family and was trying to talk posh.

“She wasn’t Meghan. Meghan came in a mature woman, self-made, independent, could speak in front of Parliament with no problem and no notes. Kate has led a quieter life without doing those things and yet they expected her to be erudite, poised and confident and when she wasn’t, they really stuck it to her,” McGregor added.

Cheryl Collins agreed with McGregor. She said that Middleton was also an object of “criticism and scorn.” She praised the duchess for the way she handled her pregnancies and recognized how the future queen consort found her niche and became a career mom. “I salute her,” Collins wrote.
