Kate Middleton Follows Princess Diana’s Footsteps By Doing This During Engagements
Kate Middleton recently followed in her mother-in-law Princess Diana’s footsteps during her first public outing with Prince William post-Prince Louis’ birth.
On Tuesday, the Duchess of Cambridge was photographed in a recycled lilac dress while at the Global Ministerial Health Summit. Middleton’s attire quickly drew comparisons with the suit and skirt that the Princess of Wales wore in 1997 during her visit to Washington D.C.
Middleton’s lilac dress is darker than Princess Diana’s attire, but both female royals wore a long-sleeved piece. Princess Diana wore a buckled belt around her waist during her engagement, and Middleton’s dress also had a belt but it is a bit thinner.
Since Princess Diana wore a suit during her trip to the United States, the mom of two opted to not wear anything underneath. Her collarbones are seen due to the suit’s V-neck cut. Middleton’s dress, on the other hand, featured a square shoulder.
Middleton’s recent sighting wasn’t the only time that her attire was compared with Princess Diana’s fashion. After she gave birth to Prince Louis, Prince William’s wife wore a red dress that is similar to her mother-in-law. In 2013, Middleton wore a polka dot dress for the opening of Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, and Princess Diana has also worn a similar attire when she made an appearance at the Royal Ascot years ago.
The Duchess of Cambridge wore a blue dress when she and Prince William announced their engagement in 2010. When Princess Diana and Prince Charles made their engagement public, the Princess of Wales also wore a blue dress but of a lighter shade.
Earlier this year, Middleton wore a green Jenny Packham dress while she was pregnant with Prince Louis. And one year after her death, Princess Diana also wore a green dress but of a lighter hue.
According to Good Housekeeping, Middleton and Princess Diana’s fashion isn’t the only thing they have in common. The Duchess of Cambridge also loves to wear Princess Diana’s jewelry. Prior to her death, Princess Diana wrote a letter saying that she wants all of her jewelry to go to her sons so that their wives could use it.
