Kate Middleton Likely Won’t Be Photographed During Caribbean Trip For This Reason
Kate Middleton and Prince William recently vacationed in Mustique with their three children, but it is highly unlikely for the paparazzi to snap photos of them.
Matthew Robinson, a journalist for Express, said that this is because Mustique is one of the most private islands on the Caribbean. A source told Robinson, “Mustique is very exclusive and press and paparazzi can’t be within a certain distance from the island, which would explain why you only see long-lens, grainy shots of the royals. Security is really tight on the island.”
The source also said that the island’s security teams regularly sail out to check approaching vessels and to ensure that no one will bring in cameras to take pictures and videos. Day visitors are not also allowed to set foot on certain areas of the island.
“As soon as you dock, there are taxi drivers who you can hire to take you around and point out celebrity hotspots. We also went past the sloped runway where the private jets land. It was like something out of ‘James Bond.’ It was surrounded by lots of trees – it’s almost like a secret, hidden runway,” the insider said.
Mustique is also being run by the island’s security team led by Simon Humphrey, a former Scotland yard chief. On its website, more information about the island’s privacy and exclusivity are explained.
“Every island visitor is registered with our security team before arriving on the island by land, air or sea, whether staff, local islander or guest. This ensures the security team knows who is on the island at any one time,” it read.
During their recent trip, Middleton and Prince William were also joined by the Duchess of Cambridge’s parents, Michael and Carole Middleton. Her siblings, Pippa Middleton-Matthews, and James Middleton did not join their short vacation.
