Kate Middleton Looks ‘Tired, Old, Very Sad’; Duchess ‘Is Struggling,’ Twitter Says

Kate Middleton looks tired and sad, and she appears to be struggling, according to Twitter users.

On Monday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stepped out together to attend the U.K.-Africa Investment Summit at Buckingham Palace. Middleton arrived at the reception in a stunning silver shimmering red gown by Needle & Thread. Despite her glamorous look, some found her looking sad. Another felt that the duchess was struggling.

“[S]omething deeply troubling Kate Middleton and I’d love to know what it is. The media is so focused on Meghan Markle not to notice Kate is struggling. Imagine if a camera caught Meghan giving that look to someone, it would be headline news,” one wrote on Twitter.

“Kate looks tired and old and very sad lately,” another user commented.

A different user opined that perhaps Middleton’s decision to not help Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and baby Archie has taken a toll on her soul. Meanwhile, another said that Prince William’s wife is just tired because she is not used to it and could not fake it anymore.

“She has to get up and work. Two days in a row? Child she tired!!! She can't fake it anymore. You know she's gonna be on the next private plane to somewhere else in the next week. She's not built for work. Sh ain't never did a days hard work on her life,” @WalkerStalker18 wrote.

Another netizen said earlier that Middleton looked depressed and too thin at the event. According to body language expert Allison Ward, the duchess was so composed at the event but the strain was evident following the Sussexes’ exit. Based on the photos from the state reception, Middleton’s strain was very visible especially when she faced Sophie, Countess of Wessex, because she let her guard down when she was with Prince Edward’s wife.

“Kate warmly greets officials and is clearly still very much in love with William but when she meets Sophie, Duchess of Wessex that’s when the strain shows. Kate’s eyes are not showing as much warmth and her hands are defensively across her stomach,” Allison explained.
