A snap of the Duchess of Cambridge looking serious as she stares at something away from the camera has been shared on Twitter. One royal fan said that in the shot, Middleton isn’t in her usual happy self but she looks sad and discontented.

“This isn’t the look of a content woman. Some may not agree with this— she can put up a good front but I have a feeling she isn’t happy. And it’s not like those moments when Diana let her guard down and looked sad. #KateMiddleton just looks bitter,” the user wrote.

The post garnered various reactions from other royal followers and some agreed. One speculated that Middleton is having an “existential crisis” and she is plotting on getting rid of her husband and giving up her kids and jewels. “She def ain’t happy. No wonder her smiles look so manic lately, they’re all forced,” the user added.

Meanwhile, some also defended Middleton. One Twitter user said Middleton is not expected to walk around with a permanent fixed smile on her face 24/7 because the only people who do that are not normal people.

Just like Middleton, there was also a photo of Princess Charlotte looking upset and serious. Several fans asked why the little princess wasn’t in her usual jolly self. While some questioned Princess Charlotte’s facial expression, some also said that it was normal because the photos were stolen shots and she is not expected to smile all the time.

In related news, Middleton’s outfit during their Christmas walk was criticized. Prince William’s wife donned a faux fur outfit designed by Catherine Walker. Middleton paired the double-breasted coat with suede emerald green pumps and a small green fascinator. However, royal fans said it was not the best combination. One even said that the duchess’ ensemble was “awful.”
