Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle Didn’t ‘Buddy Up’ At Event, Royal Expert Reveals
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle recently attended an event together and some royal fans were convinced that they buddied up during their outing.
However, royal expert Angela Mollard said on the “Royals” podcast that only seemed as though Middleton and Markle were buddying up at the event but they weren’t. Mollard also addressed the comments of body language expert Judi James, who said that the Duchess of Sussex was off to the side at the event.
“Certainly, Kate and Meghan weren’t buddying up, but they are sisters-in-law – they don’t have to be best friends. I think the notion that they have to be bosom buddies the whole time is a bit unfair,” she said.
Mollard said that she’s certain Middleton and Markle are kind towards each other but that still doesn’t mean that they need to be best friends. The expert also encouraged royal fans and critics to stop expecting the Duchesses to be anything more than sisters-in-law.
“I think you can read too much into these sorts of things, they are formal events. There’s a lot of the great and the good there,” she said.
“Royals” podcast host Rebecca Hyde added that it was Middleton and Markle’s job to talk to other people that night and not to other people.
Mollard also said that Markle was not set off to the side on purpose at the event. Prince William and Middleton appeared to be front and center in the photos because their royal roles are more important than the roles of Prince Harry and Markle.
Prince William is the heir to the throne and Middleton is the future Queen Consort. These roles will never be given to Prince Harry and Markle unless Prince William dies while Prince George is still very young to lead the monarchy.
Mollard also commented on Prince William and Markle’s relationship and said that the two royals actually appeared to be too close that night. She said that Prince William is a bit more on the outside because he’s awkward and uncomfortable in some respects.
