Kate Middleton's Gorgeous Sheer Dress Contrasts Meghan Markle $2,800 Outfit [PHOTOS]
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle recently reunited for a special reception in Buckingham Palace, and the two duchesses wore very different ensembles for the occasion.
On Tuesday, Queen Elizabeth II hosted a special reception at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the 50th year since Prince Charles' Investiture as the Prince of Wales. Prince Charles was given the title The Prince of Wales in 1958, with his official Investiture Ceremony being held on July 1, 1969.
During the special event, Middleton looked stunning in a custom-made sheer pale blue gown which featured ruffled sleeves, a high neck with button detail, cinched waist and A-line skirt. According to People, the Duchess of Cambridge's dress was made by a "private dressmaker" instead of one of her go-to fashion labels.
Middleton reportedly accessorized the dress with £1,495 ($1,963) Cassandra Goad Temple of Heaven gold earrings, a bespoke Alexander McQueen clutch that she has used in the past and white pumps.
Markle, meanwhile, looked gorgeous in a gold and silver brocade dress which featured foil floral print. According to Twitter user @MeghansMirror, she topped the dress with a white Amanda Wakeley Cream Sculpted Tailoring Crombie Coat, which retails at £903.66 ($1,190) from Orchard Mile.
Markle's coat is a recycled piece that she was first spotted wearing during her first official royal event with Queen Elizabeth II back in March 2018. She and the monarch attended the celebration of Commonwealth Day at Westminster Abbey.
Markle paired her ensemble with nude tights and suede Paul Andrew heels that retail at $695. According to Harper's Bazaar, she accessorized with a $269 champagne-colored Wilbur & Gussie Oyster silk clutch and Les Plaisirs de Birks bar earrings, which cost £213 ($280).
Joining Middleton and Markle for the special event are their respective husbands, Prince William and Prince Harry. Camilla Parker Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall, and Princess Anne were also present at the reception.
"The Archbishop of Canterbury will give a speech. Investiture Regalia worn by The Prince of Wales in 1969 will be displayed, including the Investiture Coronet, Sword, Ring and Rod, as well as Letters Patent for the creation of Charles, Duke of Cornwall as Prince of Wales in 1958," royal correspondent Victoria Murphy wrote of the event on Twitter.
