Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle Follow These Royal Fashion Rules, Expert Says

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle follow particular fashion rules in choosing their wardrobe.

Middleton and Markle are often compared especially when it comes to their fashion choices. Although Prince William and Prince Harry’s wives don’t necessarily dress the same, they follow certain fashion rules for royals.

According to expert stylist Holly Jade O’Leary, the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex’s outfits are tailored to their body to highlight femininity and elegance. The colors of their dresses are also chosen for a reason.

“Coats and dresses will be structured, classical and tailored to the body - rather than puffy or fluffy - and women will always wear a heel, and highlighting femininity, elegance and timeless style,” O’Leary told Express.

“Because they are photographed a lot, the royals will wear bold colours, or a minimal and neutral palette, or feminine florals - which creates a striking, chic effect and not tend to mix colours and this could look cluttered,” she added.

The expert added that there are fashion tips that can be taken from the two duchesses. For instance, they usually wear simple block colors and accessorize with nude or black heels as this style lends a “film star glamour” when viewed through the lens.

Just recently, Markle and Middleton’s pregnancy styles were compared by London-based stylist Lauren Jobling. The expert said that both duchesses stay true to their personal styles.

Middleton opted for loose-fitting gowns when she was expecting while Markle prefers bump-hugging dresses. However, for her, the Duchess of Cambridge’s style was “very classic” compared to Markle because Middleton didn’t bring too much attention to her baby bump.

Markle has been criticized several times for highlighting her growing tummy in every royal engagement she’s been to. The netizens have become annoyed with the pregnant royal’s gesture of cuddling her baby bump that many of them called Prince Harry’s wife “fake,” “deceiving” and "attention-grabbing."

There’s also a video featuring Markle doing a trick to expose her baby bump. In this clip, the Duchess of Sussex can be seen touching her coat several times and flicking it when it tends to cover her stomach to show off her tummy. At one point, she stopped clapping and flicked back her coat while the cameras flashed.
