Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle Modernizing Monarchy; Queen Elizabeth Should Listen, Expert Says
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are reportedly modernizing the monarchy and Queen Elizabeth II should listen to the two Duchesses.
Royal expert Jess Cagle told “Good Morning America” that Middleton and Markle have brought their different approaches to conducting their royal duties. But in order for the two female royals to continue impacting the monarchy positively, Her Majesty needs to listen to them just like what she did with Princess Diana.
“Kate Middleton seems like a much more traditional wife to William. However, in all of the things, she is involved in – they are very emotionally-driven charities… Meghan Markle, just by virtue of who she is, is modernizing the royal family,” he said.
According to Cagle, the real challenge is listening to Middleton and Markle in the way that the royal family listened to the late Princess of Wales. At first, the members of the royal family did not take Princess Diana’s contributions to heart, but they learned a big lesson from the mom of two who had a talent for touching people’s hearts.
“The royals before that had always been dedicated to service. The Queen’s life is all about service, she’s devoted herself to service but I don’t think they understood the importance of having a connection to the people before,” Cagle said.
Meanwhile, Middleton and Markle are still being subjected to scrutiny despite their attempts at modernizing the monarchy. The two female royals are also being pitted against each other, and feud rumors were heightened after reports swirled that their households will be separated soon.
According to Kensington Palace, Prince William and Middleton will continue their office work at the palace, while Prince Harry and Markle will move to Buckingham Palace under the direction of Queen Elizabeth II.
The four royals could still work on larger projects together, specifically their mental health efforts, but most of their jobs will be separated following their official split.
