Kate Middleton Not Bothered By ‘Waity Katie’ Nickname In Fan-Made Engagement Story
Prince William and Kate Middleton got engaged in 2010 while they were on vacation. And just months later, they tied the knot at Westminster Abbey.
During their engagement interview, the royal couple shared some details from their proposal. But until today, royal fans still don’t know what really happened when the second in line to the throne asked for Middleton’s hand in marriage.
On the online forum site Quora, one royal fan came up with a story on how she thinks the couple’s engagement came about. Kimberly Klaus, a development coach, said that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are staying in a cozy little cabin at the base of Mount Kenya.
The mom of three is cooking their dinner at the stove, while Prince William is sitting on the sofa. The future King gets the engagement ring from his pocket and nervously calls his then girlfriend’s attention.
Prince William then asked Middleton to walk closer to him, but the Duchess of Cambridge joked that they are already close to each other. As such, the Duke of Cambridge gets up on his feet and approaches his wife.
“I’m tired of queuing up in the market to check out and seeing this ‘Waity Katie,’” the royal imagined Prince William told Middleton.
To this, the future Queen replied that she isn’t bothered by the nickname. And if she was, she would have already left Prince William years ago.
The royal couple then talks about the things that scare them the most. Prince William admits that he’s scared Middleton would turn into his late mother, Princess Diana, due to the press harassment that she experienced.
At this point, Prince William reached out for the engagement ring and asked Middleton to marry him.
“I’m saying, Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, will you be my wife and future Queen Consort, with all that entails, including forever giving up your right to privacy, short shorts, and halter tops, and possibly still being called Kate Middleton right up till the day you are crowned Queen Consort because the press are jerks?” the royal fan said.
