Kate Middleton, Pippa ‘Competitive But Never Against Each Other’; Siblings ‘A Team’

Kate Middleton and Pippa Middleton are competitive but never against each other.

The Duchess of Cambridge are very close to her family. She is even often seen with her sibling Pippa. According to Denise Allford, the Middleton siblings are competitive, but they are more than a team than competitors against each other.

“They had such drive and were very competitive, particularly Pippa, but never against each other,” Allford, who coached Middleton and Pippa, told royal author Katie Nicholl. “They were very much a team.“

The competitive side reportedly ran through the whole family and Prince William later learned it. The Duke of Cambridge loved to play games and tease each other during holidays together.

“The whole family are mad about tennis and they hate losing,” a family friend told British GQ in 2012. “Carole’s brother, Gary, lost to James once, and didn’t play for years afterwards.”

Due to Middleton’s closeness to her sister, she even made Pippa her maid of honor when she married Prince William. However, some netizens felt that Pippa stole the thunder of her older sister. Pippa was photographed from her behind carrying the duchess’ dress and the snap made headlines.

Andrew Morton confirmed that Pippa and Middleton are very competitive much like Prince William and Prince Harry. However, he was not convinced that Pippa stole the show during the royal wedding. According to Morton, Pippa played a significant walk-on part and that was just it.

As for Middleton’s relationship with her brother James Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted accompanying him to family therapy sessions as he battled depression. According to Daily Telegraph, Middleton, Carole, Michael and Pippa joined James in his therapy sessions individually and sometimes together.

Middleton’s relationship with her family is among the things that Queen Elizabeth II love about her. According to Ashley Pearson on the Amazon Prime documentary “William & Kate: The Journey” the monarch is “very fond“ Prince William’s wife due to her values.

“She likes her middle-class values. She likes that she's close to her family,” Pearson said. “Kate has never tried to garner extra attention for herself. There's nothing flashy or showy.”
