Kate Middleton, Prince William Share Glamorous Throwback Photo Of Queen Elizabeth
Kate Middleton and Prince William shared a glamorous throwback photo of Queen Elizabeth taken ahead of the Royal Variety Performance.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were set to attend the Royal Variety Performance together ahead of Prince William’s solo trip to Kuwait and Oman. Prior to the event, they shared a throwback photo of Queen Elizabeth II looking glamorous while attending the same event years ago on Instagram.
One photo featured the Queen arriving for the Royal Variety Performance in 1952 with Princess Margaret and Prince Philip. Other shots were throwback photos of the future king and queen consort attending the same event years ago.
Prince William and Middleton attended Royal Variety Charity in 2014 and 2017. Their attendance this year is the third time they will be showing up at the event.
Royal Variety Performance started in 1912 when King George V and Queen Mary agreed to attend a Royal Command Performance at the Palace Theatre in London to help Variety Artistes’ Benevolent Fund. In July 1919, the second royal show was a performance and it was the first to be billed as “Royal Variety Performance” before it became an annual event in 1921.
In 2017, Middleton looked stunning in her baby blue embellished gown by her favorite British designer Jenny Packham. Meanwhile, Prince William was dapper in his black classic tuxedo.
The couple was visibly enjoying the event as they were seen giggling together. Prince William was also forced to join in the show’s audience participation in a comedy skit where he shouted Miranda Hart’s catchphrase “such fun” on request.
Hart compelled the second in line to throne to participate on her to-do list for the Royal Variety duties. She also hoped to hear from Prince William her trademark “knighting me with a lightsaber.” Middleton was seen laughing at her husband when the spotlight was focused on her.
In related news, Prince William just shocked gala guests at the 50th anniversary of Centrepoint when he showed up at the Roundhouse in Camden wearing a green velvet jacket. The future king opted for the said attire to keep up with the “urban glamour” dress code. He arrived at the event sans Middleton, but he was with his royal cousin Princess Beatrice.
