Kate Middleton, Prince William’s Royal Wedding More Popular Than This Couple's, Poll Suggests
Kate Middleton and Prince William’s royal wedding on April 29, 2011, is reportedly the most popular royal nuptials thus far.
Express recently asked its readers to name their favorite British royal wedding, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge received 48 percent of the votes. A total of 20,128 respondents said that they enjoyed watching the couple’s wedding at Westminster Abbey.
Even though Prince William and Middleton are not the next King and Queen, their wedding was still more popular than the nuptials of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. But the Prince and Princess of Wales’ wedding came in second with 25 percent of the votes
Prince Charles and Princess Diana tied the knot at St. Paul’s Cathedral in 1981. Their wedding was watched by billions of people across the world. But unlike the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the former couple’s relationship didn’t last.
In 1992, Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s separation was announced. Four years later, the couple finalized their divorce.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle was ranked as the third most favorite royal wedding of the readers. The couple only garnered 15 percent of the votes.
In fourth place were Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, who also tied the knot at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. The couple wed on Oct. 12, 2018.
Prince Charles’ civil wedding ceremony with Camilla Parker Bowles came in fifth place. The couple only received three percent of the votes from the readers.
Following Prince Charles and Camilla’s wedding is the wedding of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. The Duke and Duchess of York received two percent of the votes. In the same ranking were Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips.
Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex’s royal wedding on June 19, 1999, came in the last place with only one percent of the votes.
Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth are not included in the poll.
