Kate Middleton and Prince William enjoyed a family trip with their three children during their school break ahead of Easter Sunday.
Last week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge treated their kids — Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3 — to a vacation on the slopes in the French Alps.
The Cambridges were on holiday at Courchevel, France, when Prince William's brother Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stopped by the U.K. to visit Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles at Windsor Castle before heading to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games.
"During the pandemic, George begged William to take him skiing once everything reopened and his dad made it happen," an unnamed source told Us Weekly of the family of five's recent trip "during their Easter holidays."
The Cambridges were back in the U.K. by Easter Sunday, but they made the most of their getaway. Prince William and Duchess Kate saw it "as the perfect opportunity for family time," the source said, noting that the vacation "was a real family affair."
During their ski trip, the Cambridges stayed at a family friend's $5 million, six-bedroom chalet, according to the insider. Prince George and Princess Charlotte also "had private ski lessons and practiced their French."
"Kate and William feel it’s important for the children to be multilingual," the source added.
Prince William and Middleton's children reportedly excelled on the slopes, with the couple's only daughter unleashing her playful side.
"Charlotte was racing down the mountain by the end of the holiday. She’s fearless!" the tipster said. "George was slightly more cautious, but they’re both great skiers and competed in fun brother/sister ski races. They had an absolute blast."
Although Prince Louis couldn't join his older siblings' ski races, he enjoyed playing in the snow. The family of five had snowball fights and even built snowmen, the insider said.
During their trip, the Cambridges "dined at Le Pilatus, which brought back so many fond memories of when they were last there," and ate cheese fondue, according to the insider.
The future king and queen also spent some quality time as a couple before heading home. "William and Kate managed to squeeze in a romantic candlelit date night before they left," the tipster shared. "It was just what they needed to ignite the spark after such a hectic couple of years."
Following their vacation, Prince William and Middleton attended Easter Sunday service at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle with their two eldest children. It marked Prince George and Princess Charlotte's official royal Easter debut.
