Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle modified Princess Diana’s jewel differently.

The Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex both modified an item that features Princess Diana’ piece. According to The Sun, Middleton removed diamonds from a pair of the late Princess of Wales’s stunning sapphire earrings.

Although Middleton altered the clasp detail of her mother-in-law’s earrings, she kept the design of Princess Diana’s engagement ring. The precious earrings were the People’s Princess’ favorite and they matched her engagement ring.

Middleton removed the stud fastening and diamonds and wore the piece as delicate teardrop earrings.

On the other hand, Markle did the opposite to her engagement ring that featured two of Princess Diana’s jewels. Markle’s engagement ring still had a gold band in November. However, when it was spotted during Trooping the Colour, it already had a diamond-studded design as shown in this photo.

Both Middleton and Markle have been spotted wearing some items from Princess Diana’s collection. According to Madhvi Mavadiya, the Princes of Wales had a discretionary fund for Prince William and Prince Harry, their spouses, descendants, charities and co-trustees.

“I would like you to allocate all my jewelry to the share to be held by my sons, so that their wives may, in due course, have it or use it. I leave the exact division of the jewelry to your discretion,” Princess Diana wrote in her Letter of Wishes.

In October, Markle wore Princess Diana’s butterfly earrings and paired them with a bracelet from her late mother-in-law’s collection, as well. Many believed it was Markle’s way to pay tribute to Prince Harry’s mother following the couple’s announcement that they were expecting their first child. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their baby, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, in May.

In related news, royal photographer Arthur Edwards warned Prince Harry and Markle about their attitude. He said that if they continue to avoid the press, they might end up like Prince Andrew who “works tirelessly but nobody cares.”
