Kate Middleton Skipped Meghan Markle’s NYC Baby Shower For These Reasons
Kate Middleton did not attend Meghan Markle’s baby shower in New York City, and there’s a significant reason why.
According to Good Housekeeping, the baby shower in the Big Apple was organized by Markle’s closest friends. Middleton’s absence doesn’t mean that she and Markle are not friends. But it simply suggests that she and the Duchess of Sussex could celebrate together because they are both living close to each other in London.
Middleton and Prince William did not also schedule royal engagements this week before Prince George and Princess Charlotte are having their half-term break. This means that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge want to spend as much time with their children as possible. Flying to New York for the baby shower could take Middleton’s time away from her kids.
It is also important to note that baby showers are not very common among expectant mothers in the United Kingdom. This practice is more popular among American moms. This is why it’s not really a big deal if Middleton did not make it to Markle’s baby shower this week.
Royal etiquette expert Victoria Arbiter told The Sun that throwing a baby shower for the Royals in the United Kingdom would be seen as inappropriate because they are already very wealthy. After all, there’s nothing that they couldn’t buy for themselves.
But if Markle’s friends and family want to give her anything before her baby arrives then the decision is really up to them. In fact, Markle’s baby received pink and blue-colored gifts, which heightened speculations that the Duchess of Sussex could be pregnant with twins.
Meanwhile, Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland, did not also join her daughter’s baby shower in NYC. The yoga instructor was photographed walking her dog in Los Angeles. During the sighting, Ragland was seen in her black leggings, black coat, and pink inner blouse. She was also holding her mobile phone on one hand and the dog’s leash on her other hand.
