She’s a Duchess and the future Queen Consort of England, and that means a wardrobe to match. However, despite a large price tag attached to the newer items she accumulated over the course of 2019, Kate Middleton had a rather thrifty year that also featured attire that was reused.

According to Daily Mail’s FEMAIL, the Duchess of Cambridge wore new clothing that came to a grand total of £103,075 in 2019, or $136,631. Overall, the items that were purchased consisted of an array of handbags, shoes, sweaters and other attire, but the likely most expensive parts of her wardrobe included new gowns that were commissioned for events, including an Alexander McQueen which was worn with a new pair of Jimmy Choo shoes at the BAFTA awards in February. That ensemble was estimated to be worth £4,975, or $6,594.

However, while she has worn outfits by some pricey designers, the Duchess has also been wowing throughout the year by recycling some of her other looks for much of the year, reusing different pieces throughout on many of her ensembles, and only wearing completely new looks during nine outings total.

Much is often made about the royal family and their wardrobes, including the cost of items. However, while Middleton has been praised throughout the year for most of her choices and the fact that she has reworn many items, even she has been the victim of some fashion faux pas moments.

In fact, back in March, she was slammed by critics for wearing a pricey coat while touring a poor area with Prince William.

“Not a great idea to wear a coat that’s worth £1000 from Sports Max, maybe she could have worn something a little cheaper,” talkRADIO host Mike Graham said at the time.

“Yes I think that is probably a good point because the optics are not brilliant are they, if she is wearing an outfit that costs £2000 when you are visiting places like this,” co-host Emily Andrews added.
