Kate Middleton Style: How To Copy Duchess' Emilia Wickstead Tartan Look [PHOTOS]
Kate Middleton's style was more bright and festive than usual during this holiday season, and one of her best looks was her tartan outfit during a Christmas party for military service members.
Earlier this month, Middleton and husband Prince William hosted a Christmas party for the families of deployed Royal Air Force personnel at Kensington Palace in London, according to Town & Country. The gathering, which was a joint partnership between the royal couple and the Royal British Legion charity, was held at the palace's Orangery. This is just a few yards away from where Middleton and Prince William reside with their three children.
While walking to the event from their home within the palace, the mom and dad of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis experienced a pleasant surprise. After the Duchess of Cambridge noticed a patch of "snow" on the ground, she and Prince William were startled when a blower dispensed more of the white things.
During the palace party, the kids of the RAF personnel got to enjoy a variety of activities, including snow globe decorating, a photo booth, Christmas stocking, cracker making and entertainment from U.K. party planners, Sharky and George.
For the special occasion, Middleton and Prince William both decided to ditch the glamorous gowns and tuxedos and went for something a little more casual.
Prince William looked simple yet dashing in his all-blue ensemble, which comprised of a baby blue button-down, royal blue quarter-zip pullover and navy blue trousers. Middleton, on the other hand, wore a long tartan skirt from one of her favorite designers, Emilia Wickstead, People noted. She paired this with a Brora cropped cashmere black cardigan and matching suede boots. She styled her hair in soft, loose curls and kept her jewelry low-key.
For those who want a less pricey alternative to the Emilia Wickstead creation, Modcloth, Talbots and Draper James offer some more affordable versions of Middleton's skirt.
